The Magaliesberg mountain range is one of the oldest mountains in the world while also holding 80% of the Platinum Group Metals, which are essential minerals to the modern world and the Green Economy.

This film looks at the destruction of international mining companies, who use and abuse not only the land itself, but also the indigenous communities who are ancestral to this land.

Christinah Mdau, a community activist living adjutant to Tharisa Minerals mine is fighting on a daily basis against human rights violations and environmental degradation in her community. Jay Naidoo, one of the leading activist during apartheid has taken on the mission to protect this ancient mountain that is soon reaching a point where it cannot rehabilitate itself.

He knows mining cannot be stopped, but can we look at a way where mining companies are held accountable? Can we look at a way, where the health of nature and the communities on the ground go above greed and accumulation of wealth?

In a time of climate crisis we need to ask the question – what is the Green Economy and how can we find solutions that benefit all life on this planet without falling in the trap of extractivism.
